Chryssoula Doudoulakaki

Chryssoula Doudoulakaki is a graduate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Department of French Language and Philology and Pedagogical Department for Primary Education). She holds a Master’s degree and a PhD in Applied Linguistics/Didactology from the University of Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris III. She was a lecturer at the School of Journalism and Mass Communications of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She is a senior expert and a translator/reviser at the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission in Brussels, a member of the interinstitutional Terminology Group for Standardisation (OTO) and a member of the Terminology and Quality Operational Groups. She recently took up her duties as terminologist at the Greek Language Department.

Niina Elomaa

Niina Elomaa is Senior Specialist in Terminology at the Finnish Prime Minister's Office, where the Translation and Language Division provides translation services for all government ministries. Niina Elomaa’s main responsibilities include terminology guidance, coordination of terminology projects and the compilation of multilingual glossaries (published in the Government Termbank Valter or the Government website). These terminology efforts aim to harmonize language use both within individual ministries and across administrative branches.

Georgios Karipsiadis

George Karipsiadis is a Legal Advisor and, since 2020, Head of the Special Legal Service for EU law at the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece. He is a law graduate with a master's degree in international studies from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a doctorate in International Law from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has published articles in scientific journals, has participated in research programs and seminars and has taught and given lectures to public and private sector bodies. Activities during his service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1994 to the present:

• Representation of the Hellenic Republic before the Court of Justice and the Court of First Instance of the European Union in Luxembourg.
• Participation in negotiations of bilateral investment agreements, migration agreements, environmental agreements.
• Preparation of legal opinions on EU external relations, Common Foreign and Security Policy, development cooperation policy, environmental policy, asylum and migration policy, transposition of EU law into the Greek legal system.
• Participation in working groups of the EU Council (High Level Working Group on Asylum and Migration, CIA Committee Investment Agreement, Expert Group on Intra-EU Investment, Aeneas Committee, Convention on the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, RELEX, CELEX, IGC-Codification-Simplification, Quality of Drafting EU Law, COHOM).
• Head of the High Level Group on Asylum and Migration (Chairmanship during the Greek Presidency, January-June 2003, January-June 2014).
• Participation in working groups aimed at the elaboration and preparation of the Organization of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• Participation in Service and Disciplinary Councils of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Elpida Loupaki

Dr Elpida Loupaki is Associate Professor at the Department of French Language and Literature and member of the Laboratory Translation and Natural Language Processing (EMEL) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. Since 2002, she has been teaching General Translation, Specialized Translation and Terminology Management both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. She obtained her degree in French Language and Literature from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She is an academic coordinator for the Masters’ Program of Professional Translation and for the internship program. She had published several papers in international journals and collective volumes, in the fields of Terminology Management, EU translation, News Translation as well as Teaching terminology. She is an ECQA certified Terminology Manager (Advanced Level). She has participated in Erasmus+ projects and nationally funded programs. She is a member of the European Society for Translation Studies, a member of the Board of the Hellenic Society for Terminology and President of the Hellenic Society for Translation Studies. She is a member of the scientific board of the Panhellenic Association of Translators.

Rodolfo Maslias

Founder and Head of the Terminology Coordination Unit of the DG for Translation of the European Parliament from 2008 to 2022. Before, since 1981, translator in the Greek Translation Unit. Visiting Professor in the University of Luxembourg since 2013 and Savoie Mont-Blanc since 2019 and occasionally in many Universities teaching Terminology and Communication in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Greek. Vice-President of TermNet. Member of several boards and scientific committees of terminology conferences. Curator of PhD and Master theses. In culture (secondments from the EP): Director of International Relations of “Thessaloniki European Capital of Culture 1977”, (1995-1998), Head of Cabinet of the Greek Minister of Culture (2000-2002) (external activities approved by the EP): cultural advisor to the Mayor of Athens (2007-2010), Coordinator of the Network of European Capitals of Culture (2000-2010), Project Manager of “Hellenic Culture in Luxembourg” (since 2016), Member of the European Cultural Parliament (ECP). Published books and e-books on terminology and culture as well as philosophical essays and poems.

Christina Nikitopoulou

Christina Nikitopoulou is a Greek-language terminologist at the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) of the European Commission, where since 2021 she has been coordinating the interinstitutional group for the harmonisation of Greek terminology across the EU institutions. She is a Certified Terminology Manager – Advanced (ECQA) and is particularly interested in how language, translation, and technology come together to support multilingual communication in Europe. She studied English Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds a Master’s degree in Translation and Translation Technologies from the University of Surrey.

Malamatenia Panagiotou

Dr Malamatenia Panagiotou is a linguist, lexicographer, and terminologist. She is currently a researcher at the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, University of the Aegean, Greece, where she also teaches English for Specific Purposes and Consumer Behaviour. Her terminology-related work focuses on specialized communication, particularly within the fields of sensory and consumer studies, and the language of food. She is an elected member of the Administrative and General Scientific Boards of the Hellenic Society for Terminology (ELETO), a member of the International Executive Board of Infoterm, and an expert in the ISO Technical Committee 37 (subcommittee 4, working group 6 “Language resource management” and the Hellenic Organization for Standardization Technical Committee 21 “Terminology — Language Resources”. She has contributed to the Greek editions of ISO 5492:2008 Sensory analysis – Vocabulary and the Guidelines for Terminology Policies. She is an active member of the Linguistics of Food Network.

Christos Papanagiotou

Christos Papanagiotou is a linguist and Researcher C at the Research Centre for Scientific Terms and Neologisms of the Academy of Athens. He studied Greek Philology with a specialisation in Linguistics at the University of Patras, where he also completed two M.A. degrees and a Ph.D. (2016). He has taught courses in Linguistics at the University of Patras and the Hellenic Open University. His research focuses on Greek Morphology, Dialectology, and Lexicography, particularly of dialects and specialised vocabularies. He has participated in research projects and published in Greek and international journals and edited volumes.

Elina Rinne-Kangasluoma

Rinne-Kangasluoma is the Quality Officer for the Finnish language community in DGT. She holds a Master’s in Finnish language and English philology. Before joining the Commission in 2018, she worked as a translator and entrepreneur in Finland.

Eleni Tziafa

Dr Eleni Tziafa is an Associate Professor at the Department of French Language and Literature, School of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in Translation, Corpus Processing, and Digital Media. She holds a degree in Philology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), a Master’s degree from the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Programme in Language and Communication Sciences in the New Economic Environment, with a specialization in Applications of Technology in Language and Communication Sciences, and a PhD from the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Programme in Translation and Interpreting of AUTH. She has extensive professional experience as a translator, interpreter, editor, and subtitler. Her research interests focus on translation, computational linguistics, and language technology.

Alvydas Umbrasas

Dr Alvydas Umbrasas works at two Lithuanian institutions involved in terminology. His main position is at the State Commission of the Lithuanian Language, where he heads the department responsible for organizing the work of the Terminology Sub- Commission. This department manages the Term Bank of the Republic of Lithuania and arranges meetings of the Terminology Sub-Commission, which discusses terms used in draft legislation, terminology dictionaries, standards, and other related sources. Alvydas also works at the Terminology Center of the Institute of the Lithuanian Language, which conducts scientific research on terminology. His main research interests focus on the history of Lithuanian legal terminology.
